15 July 2024: Solidarity Sessions Bournemouth

Events | News | Solidarity

On Monday 15th July, Right to Remain is partnering with Refugee Support Europe and Portland Global Friendship Group to deliver a Solidarity Session for individuals, groups and organisations working across Dorset and the South West. Register at the bottom of this page.

What will the event be like?

The event will run from 10am – 2.30pm, and will be made up of two Legal Education workshops, followed by a communal lunch. There will also be plenty of opportunity to connect with local grassroots organisations standing in solidarity with people in the asylum and immigration system, as well as local campaign groups.

The session will include:

  1. An introduction to Right to Remain’s resources, and how to use them
  2. Legal Education workshop on Home Office initial asylum decisions: what happens after you get refugee status, what happens if you get a negative decision.
  3. Legal Education workshop on engaging your MP after the general election
  4. Communal lunch

Who is this event for?

If you are based in Dorset, or its surrounding counties and are:

  • Community and voluntary organisations working in solidarity or providing support to migrants, refugees & people seeking asylum.
  • Advice and information services for migrants, refugees & people seeking asylum.
  • Other organisations or groups supporting people at risk in Dorset and the South West, e.g. destitution, exploitation, disability, women’s groups, etc.

We particularly welcome grassroots community groups of migrants, refugees & people seeking asylum.

Lunch

Following the session, we will sit down together for a catered communal lunch. More details to follow.

Tickets

We are asking any funded group, or organisation with paid staff members to pay a donation of £10 for a ticket. This covers vital staff costs and allows us to keep our public legal education free.

Any unfunded or voluntary group, or anyone going through the asylum or immigration system, does not pay for their ticket. Please use the form below to request a free ticket, and someone from the team will get back to you.

Any questions, please get in touch with Esther – esther@righttoremain.org.uk.

N.B this event is now at capacity. Please add your name to the waiting list below, and we will contact you if a space becomes available
