An introduction to the Young Asylum Guide; online workshop 17 May

Events | News | Upcoming Events

The Young Asylum Guide is one of Right to Remain’s key resources. It offers a step-by-step guide through the asylum process for unaccompanied young people who are seeking asylum in the UK.

Over the past year, our Legal Education team has been working to update the Young Asylum Guide, in line with changes brought by the Nationality and Borders Act 2022.

In September 2023, we launched the new guide to our friends and allies working with young people in the sector. On 17 May, we will be hosting a workshop on how to use the Young Asylum Guide. This workshop is targeted towards people who work with young people but do not have a detailed understanding of the asylum journey.

Join us for a workshop on Zoom, where we will go through:

  • An introduction to the Young Asylum Guide, including how to use the resource
  • Interactive exercises using the YAG
  • What’s not in the YAG
  • Hear from guest speakers about their work with young people

The session is open to practitioners working with young people – this may include support workers, social workers, carers, and teachers. We are particularly welcoming people working outside of the traditional migrant support sphere, who may not have detailed knowledge on this topic.

Through this workshop, we hope to develop a community of users and create connections among participants, with the view for increased sharing of the guide, and increased solidarity across communities.

NB. Tickets for this workshop are now sold out. Please fill in the form below to be added to the waitlist.
