Right to Remain is delighted to announce that Eiri Ohtani will be joining the organisation as our new Director.
Eiri has over twenty years experience in the migration sector, covering a wide-range of roles. Eiri previously set up and ran the charity Asylum Support Appeals Project, and is well-known for setting up and running the Detention Forum for ten years. Under her leadership, huge progress was made on mainstreaming asylum support law and the issue of immigration detention and advocating on key areas of detention reform. Eiri has also had an advocacy and coordination role at the International Detention Coalition; and very extensive experience of consultancy and interim roles, supporting organisations with strategic development; theory of change; fundraising and funding as well as working for funders.
This is an exciting time for Right to Remain, with someone with such depth of experience and visionary-thinking taking the helm.
Tienga Ngale and Pinar Aksu, co-chairs of Right to Remain, say:
“The Chairs and board of trustees are immensely pleased to have Eiri joining our team to lead the next phase of Right to Remain’s work. Eiri’s experience is a highly welcome fit for us and her skills will be highly valuable for the organisation. The entire team of Right to Remain is thrilled to welcome Eiri on board who will continue the work for a fair and just system.
We thank Lisa, current Right to Remain coordinator who is moving on after more than ten years with us, for all the wonderful work at Right to Remain, including the Toolkit and the outreach work across many communities.”
Eiri will join Right to Remain at the end of March.
