Reporting to: Director of Right to Remain

Closing date for applications: 11:59pm on Tuesday 10 January 2023. However, we will interview early applicants if they meet our shortlisting criteria and if a suitable candidate is found, we will close this recruitment process before the stated closing date.

This unique, time-limited post will play a critical role in helping Right to Remain’s migration justice work to reach a new level by engaging with a wider range of target audiences to inspire, mobilise and organise for radical solidarity. We are looking for a passionate, creative, curious and task-orientated team player who can hit the ground running.

You will be working closely with the Director of Right to Remain, our small and dynamic Right to Remain staff team, and our wonderful and formidable These Walls Must Fall campaigners who are challenging the Hostile Environment. Working with other NGOs in the asylum/refugee and migration sector, grassroots groups and migrant communities, you will help us support more people to fully exercise their right to remain in the UK.

As an Engagement Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring our public legal education work builds our community of practitioners and is used by those who need it most, boosting the scale and depth of the reach of our highly popular and accessible Right to Remain Toolkit, legal updates and workshops. You will also be supporting us to deliver a number of Toolkit 10th Anniversary celebration events, including Toolkit Festivals which will take place in multiple locations across the UK in 2023.

Right to Remain is a dynamic organisation with seven staff members. Three are based in our London office and others are based in Birmingham, Manchester, Halifax and Glasgow. The Engagement Officer will be expected to attend our London office regularly, and the role requires regular travel within the UK. The role also requires occasional evening and/or weekend working, for which you will receive time off in lieu.

You will need to have the right to work in the UK as Right to Remain is unfortunately not in a position to sponsor people for work visas.

This is a unique post and you might have questions about it. If in doubt, we encourage you to discuss the role before applying – please feel free to contact Eiri Ohtani, Director, at eiri@righttoremain.org.uk to arrange an informal chat.

We look forward to hearing from you.
