New Toolkit page on family/private life cases

Legal Updates

We have revamped the Right to Remain Toolkit, creating a new page that looks just at “Article 8” family/private life cases – a type of human rights application for the right to remain in the UK.

These applications are known as Article 8 applications, because they are based on Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights, which is part of UK law through the Human Rights Act. This right will continue to exist after Brexit.

Take a look at the new page to find out what is meant by “family and private life”, what Article 8 covers, what the immigration rules say about these applications, thinking about gathering evidence and more.

SUPPORT OUR WORK

On reaching the UK, people face a hostile environment. Without help, many will be forcibly sent back to the wars, persecution and misery they have fled.

Your donation will help us to help people in their struggle for the right to remain in the UK, and to campaign for migration justice
