Solidarity Sessions: Manchester, Wednesday 28th February

Events | News | Upcoming Events

An event for Manchester organisations and groups who provide support, advice and solidarity to refugees and migrants.

Last month we had a great session in Liverpool where we covered how to use and share the Right to Remain Toolkit, and how to provide legal support without straying into legal advice. We also heard updates from apanel of local organisations. Read about last month’s session here.

Last time around, one of the most popular requests for topics to cover was healthcare, so we will be covering that in this session, with some special guests. There are many obstacles to accessing healthcare services, and confusion about the rules relating to a person’s immigration status. We wrote about this recently in our blog on Getting healthcare in the UK, and section in the Toolkit is in development.

Spaces at these sessions are limited, so if you’re interested, use the sign-up form below to register today. And please share this page with anyone you think may be interested in attending.

The event will include:

  • How to use the Right to Remain Toolkit to help yourself or others to get through the asylum and immigration system.
  • How to provide legal support without giving legal advice (there’s an important difference!)
  • Information and news from local organisations and groups.

What will the event be like?

It will be an informal meeting to share knowledge and information with each other, to hear about legal updates, and local initiatives. It will be at an accessible community venue in the city centre (details will be sent after you register).

Who is organising the event?

Right to Remain is a migration justice organisation working across the UK. We provide information, resources, training and assistance to help people to establish their right to remain, and work to challenge injustice in the immigration and asylum system.

These Walls Must Fall is a group of campaigners with direct experience of the immigration and asylum system, working with local allies. Supported by Right to Remain, they are organising to build the movement for migration justice.

SUPPORT OUR WORK

On reaching the UK, people face a hostile environment. Without help, many will be forcibly sent back to the wars, persecution and misery they have fled.

Your donation will help us to help people in their struggle for the right to remain in the UK, and to campaign for migration justice
