Now @MahdiTaarwale giving his maiden speech, moving the motion on ending indefinite immigration detention. Having heard the harrowing experiences of @rock4_ronnie and others, I fully support this motion. #MCC

Cllr @MahdiTaarwale proposed a motion to the council , calling for the end of the use of Indefinite detention immigration centres. With 10 suicides in such centres in the UK in the last 12 months, urgent action is needed to adopt different, humane and dignified measures.

Speaking in support @CllrSuzanne says you judge a society by how it treats its most vulnerable. Universal Credit and detention debates this morning show this government is failing in that treatment. #MCC

"It is completely inhumane".

Impressed by Manchester City Council passing a motion against immigration detention (unanimously)? Why not get your local council to do the same. Here's the wording https://t.co/JxYEvcdpja pic.twitter.com/tj0kAyCX85
