Call for Evidence on Fee Waiver Process

News

This blog was updated on 5 September 2024 with the information about the extended deadline.

Since publishing our legal update blog on the fee waiver process, we have received 100s of comments and questions from our community about problems people are having in submitting fee waiver applications. For example, the data shows that there is a large backlog of fee waiver decisions. This means that lots of people are waiting for a decision on a fee waiver application for a very long time.

On 21 August, the Independent Chief Inspector of Borders and Immigration (ICIBI) launched a call for evidence on the fee waiver process.

It says that this inspection will examine the effectiveness, efficiency, and consistency of the Home Office’s management of fee waiver applications.

It is calling for ‘anyone with knowledge and experience of the Home Office’s management of fee waiver applications to submit evidence’.

The new deadline to submit evidence is the 15 September 2024.

You can submit evidence via this email address: icibifeewaivers@icibi.gov.uk

If the short deadline will affect your ability to respond to this call for evidence, and you would like more time to submit, we recommend emailing the ICIBI on the email address above to ask for more time.
