Community as a superpower – Fatou is finally home

News | These Walls Must Fall

This is what it means when we say community is a Superpower , together, we are rebuilding relationships, redefining freedom, and breaking the chains of injustice. Through the power of community, we restore what detention and division try to destroy

Last Refugee Week, under the theme “Community as a Superpower,” we’ve witnessed the true strength of solidarity.

Together, we stopped Fatou’s deportation on the 17th of June.

We want to express our heartfelt appreciation for every single act of resistance, from the calls and emails to MPs, to the powerful actions in the streets, to the donations that kept her legal team fighting around the clock.

A special thank you to all those who picked up the phone to call Turkish Airlines, demanding they not be complicit in deporting a woman to danger. Your voices mattered. Your actions made a difference.

The fight is not over. Fatou is still enduring the trauma and uncertainty forced on her by the UK’s hostile immigration system. As she has always reminded us:

“This fight is not just for me. It’s for the women I met in detention who are still there.”
