Let’s End Detention, Together – Online rally, 2 Oct: 7:00pm – 8:30pm

Join this online rally to support the national demonstration to end immigration detention with These Walls Must Fall lived-experience campaigners!

The government has announced a programme of immigration raids on our communities and workplaces, and claims they will deport more people than the previous government. Key to this plan is the opening of two more detention centres.

That’s why Right to Remain and These Walls Must Fall campaigners have joined up with the No To Hassockfield campaign in calling a national demonstration against detention on 19 October, outside Derwentside immigration removal centre.

The online rally takes place on 2nd October, between 7pm – 8.30pm, on Zoom. Register at the bottom of this page.

We welcome everyone who is attending the demo and also those who are not able to physically make it to the detention centre: we would like as many people and groups as possible to endorse the demonstration and join the migration justice movement at this critical time.

We would like to hear your hopes for the demonstration and discuss how we can end detention together. You will also have an opportunity to network with others from different parts of the UK. We are also going to be joined by speakers, including people with direct experience of the asylum and immigration system, from the No To Hassockfield, Refugee Women Connect, AVID, NACCOM, Freedom from Torture, Keep Campsfield Closed and others.

We look forward to seeing you!

We must continue with lessons learnt from Alternatives to Detention and have a system based on Case Work Management and end indefinite immigration detention for the vast majority of people.
