Isabella Acevedo, former cleaner for Mark Harper MP, was at her daughter’s wedding. Suddenly, 15 Immigration officers burst in to snatch her. She was taken to a detention centre, and was deported to Colombia.

Her campaign group is continuing the fight for justice. The Facebook campaign page continues the fight to return Isabella to London – to her only child, her daughter and the life she has built over 13 years.

Isabella worked for over 7 years as a cleaner for Tory MP Mark Harper. When it came to light that she did not have the paperwork giving permission to work, she was sacked from her job, and Harper resigned his post as Immigration Minister. A couple of days after he was back in a new job in the Government, this happened:

Just as her daughter’s wedding was about to start, a 15-strong Immigration raid team stormed the ceremony and took Isabella off to Yarl’s Wood detention centre. Removal Directions were set for a BA flight to Colombia for Thursday 24 July. That flight was stopped, as a result of the protests in support of her right to stay.
