Resisting immigration raids – Free 45-minute video by Leeds Anti-Raids Action

Legal Updates

Leeds Anti-Raids Action have produced a very practical 45 min training video on how to resist immigration raids. They have kindly shared this free resource with Right to Remain, so that it can reach more people and groups who are interested in exploring different ways to protect refugee, migrant and racialised communities from immigration enforcement.

Since taking office, the Labour government has sharply increased immigration enforcement, with record levels of workplace raids, arrests and detention across the UK. In the year from 1 October 2024 to 30 September 2025, Immigration Enforcement teams carried out more than 11,000 illegal working visits and made over 8,000 arrests – a 51% and 63% increase on the previous year. It’s imperative we all learn about our rights and think about how to protect our community from the violence of immigration enforcement.

The Leeds Anti-Raids Action training video compliments our Knowledge is Power: Detention and Enforcement workshops and our key guide on reporting and raids, published December 2026.

The training video aims to:

  • Build skills and knowledge to enable people to resist raids.
  • Learn what you can do when you see an immigration raid.
  • Inspire you to want to become more active around resisting immigration raids and the hostile environment

The training video covers the following topics.

  • The Hostile Environment
  • What is a raid?
  • Spotting a raid?
  • What to do if you see a raid?
  • What to do if you are subject to a raid?
  • Other ways to resist raids

Please note that the video was produced in January 2026.

Our top tips for using this training video are:

  • Watch it as a group and discuss the information contained in the video. Collective learning is a great opportunity to build trust and relationships with each other.
  • Are there other people and groups you know who should watch this video? If so, encourage them to watch it too. The more people know about our rights, the better.
  • Consider what action you will be taking as a result of watching this video. Are you considering setting up a local anti-raids group? Will you consider approaching an existing local group to support them? Perhaps there are actions you can take which do not involve setting up an anti-raids group. For example, will you be giving out anti-raids flyers to places and people who might be at risk of immigration raids?

We would like to send a huge thank you to Leeds Anti-Raids Action and everyone in our communities who are standing up for migration justice.
