Yumna Kamel joins Right to Remain as our new legal education officer

News

Right to Remain is very happy to welcome Yumna Kamel to the team!

Yumna has started at Right to Remain this week as our new legal education officer. Yumna will be taking over from Lisa Matthews (our coordinator, who is moving on from Right to Remain after more than ten years with us) on working on our resources about the asylum and immigration system, including the Right to Remain Toolkit. She will be delivering our legal workshops and working with asylum and migrant groups across the UK.

Yumna has a legal background, with a focus on immigration and asylum law. She is a qualified mediator and the Co-Founder and Executive Director of Earth Refuge – a legal think tank dedicated to climate migrants.

Her work is centred upon empowering affected communities by amplifying their narratives and ensuring they are made aware of their rights. She is excited to collaborate with the Right to Remain team and community partners in producing accessible tools and delivering creative workshops on the UK immigration and asylum system.

SUPPORT OUR WORK

On reaching the UK, people face a hostile environment. Without help, many will be forcibly sent back to the wars, persecution and misery they have fled.

Your donation will help us to help people in their struggle for the right to remain in the UK, and to campaign for migration justice
