Right to Remain Seasonal Gift Guide

News

As the holiday season approaches, we’re excited to share the Right to Remain Seasonal Gift Guide—a reflection of our commitment to building solidarity and the importance of building connections and relationships.

At Right to Remain, we collaborate with a variety of incredible organisations through workshops, campaigns, and have spent the past 18 months connecting with new and old allies. This gift guide not only highlights our new limited edition No One Is Illegal T-shirt but also features opportunities to support organisations we work with or hope to connect with in the future.

Let’s make this holiday season one of meaningful giving and impactful change.

Shop the limited edition No One Is Illegal T-shirt in Red

This holiday season, we’ve launched our iconic No One Is Illegal T-shirt in a striking red! By purchasing this limited-edition item, you’re directly supporting our vital work in legal education and campaigning.

Recently, we’ve been focusing on ending immigration detention, including co-organising the national demonstration outside the Derwentside/Hassockfield Immigration Removal Centre this past October. Your support ensures we can continue this critical work.

Donate to the Project Mama Solidarity shop

Migrated and displaced mothers are significantly more likely to face adverse birth outcomes due to systemic health inequities. Project Mama is dedicated to supporting these mothers during the perinatal period, offering community and care when it’s needed most.

Their services include:

  • Mother Companion support for one-on-one care during pregnancy and early motherhood.
  • Antenatal education and birth support.

You can help by donating to their Solidarity Shop, which provides essential supplies for mothers and their babies. With every purchase, you’ll receive a beautiful e-card to gift a loved one, showcasing the positive impact of their contribution.

Donate to Gatwick Detainee Welfare Group

Since 1996, GDWG has been providing advocacy, moral support, and a sense of community for individuals detained at Brook House and Tinsley House near Gatwick Airport. They also assist those integrating back into the community after detention.

Their dedicated team of about 70 volunteers undertakes vital work such as:

  • Delivering donated clothing to people in detention.
  • Visiting detainees to provide a friendly face and emotional support.
  • Organising countryside walks for released detainees to foster community connections.

Your donation can make a difference. For instance, £12 funds a family visit, helping detainees combat the loneliness and isolation of detention.

Shop from Keep Campsfield Closed

Keep Campsfield Closed is an Oxfordshire-based group opposing the government’s plans to reopen Campsfield House as an Immigration Removal Centre. This reopening contradicts the government’s 2016 commitment to reducing detention numbers.

You can take action by shopping for their merchandise, including t-shirts, prints, and greeting cards—perfect for thoughtful holiday gifts. Proceeds support their work to end immigration detention and spread awareness of these inhumane centres.

Donate to the Calais Food Collective Emergency Fundraiser

The Calais Food Collective (CFC) is a grassroots organisation supporting displaced individuals at the UK-France border. They provide essential food, water, and resources to communities facing severe precarity and human rights violations.

CFC urgently needs donations to continue their vital food and water distribution projects. Here’s how your contribution helps:

  • £15 funds a food pack for five people.
  • £130 buys a 1,000L water tank.
  • £250 covers one month of food bank subscriptions.
  • £540 pays their water bill for a month.

Looking for a unique gift idea? Purchase a ticket to their “Sets for Solidarity”event, featuring local DJs playing upbeat global music. All proceeds go directly to the emergency fundraiser.

Donate to Derbyshire Refugee Solidarity

Derbyshire Refugee Solidarity is part of a grassroots movement working to provide aid and support to refugees. The group started in August 2015, in response to the ever-increasing refugee crisis. They’ve been involved in several convoys to Calais and Dunkirk, delivering vital aid to refugees and volunteering in camps. The organisation also offers lots of different activities. They have an allotment, which is to provide a small nature-based safe oasis in the city for refugees to enjoy in whatever way is right for them. They also offer group bike rides, English lessons, and also take part in campaigning and activism.

There are many ways you can get involved:

  • Volunteer your time and skills.
  • Fundraise to support their mission.
  • Donate essential items to be sent to camps in Calais, Dunkirk, and Paris.

Donate to Napier Friends

Napier Friends is a grassroots organisation supporting those temporarily living at Napier Barracks. Their mission is to help people seeking asylum to settle into the local community and their new lives in the UK. They provide a support network to people living at Napier, as well as those who have moved on from Napier, and offer meaningful activities that help people seeking asylum to adapt and integrate. This includes learning English and learning about life in Britain, and improving the residents’ health and wellbeing through cooking classes, sports, and opportunities to volunteer in the local community.

There are a number of ways you can support Napier Friends: make a financial contribution, volunteer, or donate clothing, shoes, and smartphones.
