This month, Right to Remain is excited to welcome two new staff members to our team.

Sundus Abdi joins us as a Communications and Campaigns Assistant (Intern). As a student, she volunteered for a migration NGO in the West Midlands and upon graduation, completed her internship at the Guardian. She brings her passion for migration justice and flair for writing – she is also a freelance writer with bylines in a number of publications. Sundus is based in Birmingham and works full-time for Right to Remain.

Leah Cowling joins us as our second Legal Education Officer. She is currently studying for a PGDL in Law, after completing a masters in International Human Rights Law at Edinburgh University. Until recently, she was working as a case worker assisting people seeking asylum and navigating the immigration system. She is based in Glasgow and works three days a week for Right to Remain.

In addition, we are delighted that Yumna Kamel, another Legal Education Officer now works full-time (she used to work three days a week).

Sundus can help amplify voices and power of our These Walls Must Fall campaigners and communicate better with our supporters. Extra capacity that Leah and Yumna bring accelerates our legal education work to increase legal support available in our community which is, needless to say, more needed than ever. With seven staff members, based in London, Manchester, Halifax, Birmingham and Glasgow, we hope to make more connections, more solidarity and build more power for migration justice across the UK – it is an exciting time for us.”
