Recently, we have recently been running an open workshop ‘Introduction to the Toolkit’. You can read more about these workshops here. These sessions focus on the The Right to Remain Toolkit; a free, practical resource designed to help people understand and navigate the complex legal process using clear accessible language. Thousands of people use our Toolkit every month But we know that many groups also want to use it better and feel more confident in showing others how to use it. That’s why we’re now offering focused sessions on understanding the Toolkit and how to use it, and, importantly, how to support individuals to use it themselves.
We are now offering this workshops to groups, organisation, staff teams, volunteers, community members etc, who think they would benefit from their team attending and learning more about the Toolkit.
We are keen to offer this session to as many people as possible, to encourage proactive and collective use of the Toolkit, and to empower people to offer legal support to their community where they are able to.
In these sessions, you can expect:
- Practical, interactive 45-minute workshop on how to use and share the Toolkit
These sessions are designed to give you and your group confidence in using the Toolkit yourselves and to pass that knowledge on to others you support in an empowering way. We will take you through definitions, how to use the search function, and key tips for sharing. We also do an overview and exercise on the difference between legal advice and legal support. - Online or in-person options
Sessions can be delivered on Zoom or in-person (where possible), making them accessible to groups across the UK. We can run the session as part of your staff and volunteer meeting, training or as a stand-alone session. We are particularly keen to connect with small groups who are the backbone of the migration justice movement! - Built-in feedback
After the session, we’ll arrange a short follow-up chat to hear how you’ve been using the Toolkit in practice and what impact it has had on your work. As a small organisation, feedback is really important to us; it helps us understand what’s working, what could be better, and how we can continue offering meaningful workshops and resources. Your feedback helps us continue to improve the resource and ensure it meets the needs of communities on the ground.
Who is the workshop for?
These sessions are ideal for community groups, support organisations, volunteers, caseworkers, and anyone who works directly with people going through the asylum and immigration system, and wants to better support them to use the Toolkit themselves.
If you would like to arrange a session, please get in touch. You can request a workshop using the form below, or by emailing esther@righttoremain.org.uk.
