We are delighted that the brilliant play, The Claim, has returned and is part of Edinburgh Festival this year and indeed part of the British Council Showcase in the festival. And we’re running a workshop in Edinburgh to tie in with the performances! (See bottom of page)
We helped with the development of the play and having seen in during its 2018 UK tour, can promise that it’s really worth seeking out. It’s bizarre, bewildering, and all too real (as well as being surreal and comic). We watched it in Manchester with lots of people who are themselves navigating the UK asylum system who gave it their seal of approval too.
Serge stands before us. He has a performance to give. But why is he here? What is he claiming has happened to him? And what has Willy Wonka got to do with it?
A bold, imaginative response to the stories of those seeking refuge in the UK, The Claim asks what happens when your life is at stake and all you have to save it are your words.
Dates: 31 July – 25 Aug (not 6, 13, 20)
Duration: 65 mins
Venue: Paines Plough Roundabout, Summerhall (Venue 26)
Right to Remain workshop
Alongside The Claim performances, we are running a workshop on the UK asylum process (and in particular the asylum substantive interview), the problems people face and what can be done to be in a better situation.
The workshop is at the Royal Society in Edinburgh on 22 August, 1:30-2:30pm.

SUPPORT OUR WORK
On reaching the UK, people face a hostile environment. Without help, many will be forcibly sent back to the wars, persecution and misery they have fled.
Your donation will help us to help people in their struggle for the right to remain in the UK, and to campaign for migration justiceDONATE TO RIGHT TO REMAIN
